Another five star read from one of my favourite authors in the urban lit game, the Mayor finally hits the streets after years of being locked up and two things are guaranteed with his release, the murder rate sky rocketing and serious money being made, if you have been sleeping on Al Saadiq banks its time to wake the hell up because urban fiction don't get no realer than this!!!
The block series is definitely one of my favorite series. This book was everything I thought it would be from the beginning till the end. In the beginning I didn't care for the Mayor because he was so cocky and arrogant. This book he has grown and matured so much. I love that he takes care of All his people the inmates that he was locked up with even down the homeless man. He made sure everyone ate. Mayor came home from prison and had one thing on his mind and that was money and flooding the streets with the best heroine with the help Manson the blood leader and his cousin Smoke. In a short period of time he made 3 half million dollars and made sure his whole city ate. I love the brotherly bond that Mayor and his attorney Tony has they loved one another. The block party series is one the realistic street novels I've read. Al-Saadiq I love your books keep pen grinding and as long as you write I will buy. Complete turn pager
I didn't want this series to end! Al-Saadiq Banks has hit it out of the park again! A truly great writer!! That's what you call "the power of the pen"! I've read all of his books and he does not disappoint!
All familiar with the Mayor I know have grown to not only love him but root for him.....his cocky attitude does something to me as it will you too....you have to read to understand him get familiar with the characters of the block party series......#true2lifesalute
Excellent read seems so real.. again c yoannot put it down at all I think in 2 weeks I read all 6 of Al-Saadiq Banks Books.. Get to reading you will not regret it..
I've read all of Al-Saadiq Banks's books and loved everyone of them, that includes this one. It was a page turner from start to finish, I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Even through the story jumped around it all came together at the end and the ending, I was kind of disappointed at the end but I saw it coming, however I still enjoyed it, that is all I'm going to say about it, your just going to have to go out and buy the book. I can't wait for Al-Saadiq's next book.
The Block Party series should come with a coronation ceremony because Mr. Banks is THE Hottest voice in Street Lit. This book caps off a 15 year story of the streets that reads more like a documentary. The Mayor is both hero and anti-hero alike. You can't help but root for the guy! His intense business demeanor and all-or-nothing attitude is balanced with supreme empathy for those in his camp. His confidence and charisma is enthralling to everyone. You can SEE him leap from the pages. The story is intense, deacriptive, and realistic. 5 -star satisfaction.
