Glenn is an amazing non-fiction writer and researcher, and it shows in his first novel, In the Teeth of the Gods. I love books that not only have a good story, but also teach me something about other people, other lands, or the world around me. This book did all of the above - the level of detail regarding the various ancient peoples in this story was incredible. I haven't read very much about these cultures before and enjoyed learning about their daily lives and struggles through the eyes of Glenn's characters. I love how the seemingly disparate groups came together at the end with a satisfying conclusion. At first I found the frequent change in point of view confusing, but once I got used to the shift I was able to keep up. =) Now I'm off to read Glenn's non-fiction book about music around the world, Tripping the World Fantastic A Journey Through the Music of Our Planet
Fantastic book! I've read both of his books now and am impressed by the writing style and the research. Easy to read, easy to identify with, enjoyable stories that take me to corners of the world that I've not been able to visit. Definitely worth a read for anyone looking to expand their horizons from the comfort of their own home.
